What do you know about global warming?

"Humanity is burning the planet"
Are you contributing to burn our planet?

Global warming is the unusually rapid increase in Earth’s average surface temperature over the past century primarily due to the greenhouse gases released by people burning fossil fuels. According to Dr. Holli Riebeek, from the NASA Global Warming publication, states: "Throughout its long history, Earth has warmed and cooled time and again. Climate has changed when the planet received more or less sunlight due to subtle shifts in its orbit, as the atmosphere or surface changed, or when the Sun’s energy varied. But in the past century, another force has started to influence Earth’s climate: humanity"
Climate change is a crude reality. Nowadays,  scientists agree that our planet is hotter that it was two thousand years ago. For example, Greenpeace organization claims that: "earth is experiencing faster sea level rise and more extreme weather than scientists had previously predicted. By the end of the century, if current trends continue, the global temperature will likely climb higher than at any time in the past two million years". Contrary, in Africa, the planet is experiencing an increased incidence of extreme weather changes as droughts, floods, mudslides, some among. Also, since Africa is the poorest continent in earth, some infections diseases as malaria or HIV Aids will rise.

The information about this blog is reliable because I have founded it on the NASA and Greenpeace websites. I consider both studies with sufficient evidences related to the topic. Both pages have prestigious while publicizing articles related to environment. Also, my reaction about this article is acceptable, since I trust the sources. I didn't find any logical fallacies on them. Personally speaking, I have used one: "Humanity is burning the planet" this is an over generalization fallacy that I've decided to use to generate conscience to protect our planet. Since humanity means every human being, I have included myself on it. Indeed, everybody (including myself) are responsible for this environmental phenomenon that is causing damage to earth and population.
We can help to solve this issue, there many things to be done, for example:
  • Promote, use, and re-use renewal energy sources like solar, wind, and geothermal (According to Greenpeace, this can provide 96% of our electricity and 98% of our total heating demand)
  •  Investing in renewables could jump-start our flagging economy, creating millions of jobs that can’t be shipped overseas. It could put the US back at the forefront of the 21st century economy, in front of China, which in 2009 became the largest global investor in renewables (Stated by the Greenpeace)
  • Promote state or federal regulation that protect our environment
  • Try to live with less material things. For example, don't buy unnecessary things as cloths, shoes, accessories, electronics, etc. We have to learn how to live, moderately speaking, with less material things that just the needed ones, in order to protect our planet. We have only one planet, is known as Earth, please take care of it before is too late :-(
